Abimbola Writes

We are Christians and we are human too, and as human who still reside on earth, we love to have life all figured and all mapped out, but when life isn’t going as we want it to go, we are quick to judge that God has forgotten us as that can be the only reason why we are experiencing this or that.

What happened in the book of Judges chapter 6 so relates with the modern believer who thinks he has been forgotten by God.

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon and was calling him a man of valor and stating that the Lord is with him, Gideon was quick to disagree that the Lord was with him or even with his people (the children of Israel), because according to his human mind (and ours), there are things that shouldn’t happen to you if the Lord is still with you and if you are in his remembrance book.

But, it is not  so, God is EVER mindful of his children irrespective of their current reality.

So if you think God has forgotten, these are three thoughts I’d like you to remember;

1.       1. You Are His Child

This is one thing that happens when we decide to believe in the only begotten son of God which is Christ.

God accepts us into his kingdom and then make us his children.

As children of this great God, just like parent in the natural love their children, how much more this God who created you, wouldn’t he even lavish you with so many blessings than even the earthly parents.

Romans 8:32 says "He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?"

God didn't spare his own son, he gave Christ up that you might have access to him, he'll give you all things too.

You are his child. He wants the best for you. Never forget this.

2.       2. He Can Never Forget You

g    God can't forget you.

       He can't.

       He won't.

This is one scripture that always always thrills me.

Yet Jerusalem says, “The LORD has deserted us; the Lord has forgotten us. “Never! Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!      Isiah 49:14-15 NLT

Let this bring comfort to your heart.

It's almost impossible for a mother to forget her child. A mother's love is strong. And even if a mother's love fails, God is saying his own love won't fail, and he would not forget you.

I know how bad it feels to see people move past you and you just seem to be on a spot, and then you feel you have been forgotten by God. It's not possible, God can Never Forget You.

Your answer is on the way.

3.       3. God Is Always Working Behind The Scenes

We have a God who has our best interest at heart all the time, and while we want things to come quickly, then when what we want are not quick in coming, we are quick to dismiss that God isn’t working then since we can’t see it.

But then, If only you can the things God is doing on your behalf at the backend, you will be filled with so much joy.

God is Always Always working behind the scene.

The book of Esther is one story that brings this point home.

How can a woman disrespects her husband, then another young girl becomes the bride of the king, then a man hates the guts of a whole tribe and starts planning death of the tribe, and he gets invited to a banquet with the king and his queen, he gets into the garden, has his fill, on his way home, he sees one of the men from the tribe and then decides he wants that man killed before the date for the death of the tribe comes.

He proposed to go to request for the permission to hang the man the next day, he sleeps knowing that his enemy was certainly going to die the next day, but THAT SAME NIGHT, the king looses his sleep, the records were brought out, he saw the name of the man who had saved the king from been assassinated and then decides to honor him, only that the same man he wants to honor is the same man another man wants to kill…

You know the the turn out of the events of this story, and if you don’t, pick on to your bible and read the book of Esther.

Sometimes back, I watched a faith-based fil on YouTube that further strengthened my faith about how God is always walking at the back end even when it is not obvious.

Here is the link to the video: Man At The Back End

God is always working at the back end.

Even when we don’t see it.

He hasn’t forgotten you, He can’t forget you.

Your moment will come.

Your answer is on the way.

Why You Shouldn't Quit

January 28, 2021 No comments

Still in the spirit of new year resolutions, I know a whole lot of people have reading through the entire bible as a spiritual goal.

Prior to last year, I have read bits and bits of the books in the Bible, there are certain books of the bible that I had done a study on but I just couldn’t seem to be able to read the whole bible to completion.

Permit me to tell you that reading or studying the bible isn't the role of pulpit ministers alone while the rest of us can just go about our day-to-day affairs.

Not at all.

The Lord desires that we ALL know him for ourselves. God isn't supposed to be only your Pastor's God, but yours as well. This is not down playing the role of teachers and mentors who have gone ahead of us in the faith. I told my mentor how this was one of my spiritual goals and also shared it with him when I finally read the last day of my plan.

So, in year 2020, for the umpteenth time, I wrote in my journal how I was definitely going to read the bible through. And finally, I was able to do it for the first time ever, so let me share these five tips with you to get it done.

1.    1. Have A Why

Yes, there will be days you feel stuck at some point, especially when it’s mid year and you know longer have as much energy as you had when the year was new, but one way to see that you are able to get this done is by having a concrete reason.

One reason I wanted to read the bible through was because there were too may heresies flying around here and there.

People having a particular idea, or belonging to a particular school of thought and then projecting them as the truth. I wanted to know what the scriptures was saying as it relates to life for myself, not what someone somewhere was saying.

Let’s just say I wanted to know God for myself.

I know there are others reading the bible so that they can be able to sound knowledgeable during bible study sessions, but this shouldn’t be you, pursue knowing God’s word as a means of knowing your Father and becoming one with him.

While there are times he might give you the opportunity to share out of the deposit on your inside, but God himself is the goal

2.    2. Don’t Quit

While this point is kinda similar to the first one but they are quit different.

While your Why makes you want to pick your device/Bible at the time you have said you would, but there are times when having had a lot on your plate.

It's possible that in the midst of life and living, you start missing reading the portions you are supposed to read, and before you know it, you are so far away from finishing the portion, but that isn’t a time to quit, it is a time to keep pushing and making sure that you see this to completion.

3.    3. Create/Join A Tribe

Nothing beats the good that can come out when different people with the same focus come together to get something done.

This is one thing that really helped me read the bible through for the first time ever.

I belong to this ladies ministry, and when at the beginning of 2020, they brought out a plan of reading the bible through, I quickly hopped in.

While a group created for this purpose will help give you the push you need, but remember that you will still need to pick up the and read it for yourself.

Yours might not even be a tribe or group, it might just be you and a friend.

4. Be Committed To Your Mode Of Reading

One reason why a lot of people don't make an headway with reading the bible through is because, today they are reading on their phone, then the next day, they are reading their hard copy bible.

Doing this will only take you one step forward and two steps backward, as you wouldn't be able to stay consistent.

When I was reading the bible through last year, the app that was in use in the ladies group I belonged to was online, I downloaded the offline version of the plan and I kept reading.

Juggling between reading on phone today and reading the hardcopy bible tomorrow will only make you tired all together.

Pick one and then stick to it.

5. Ask The Lord For Help

You already know this point has to appear, right?

There are so many honorable things you want to do, you have all your strategies and plans all figured out but then, you just can't seem to be able to get them done.

Continually ask God for help. We can't get much done without the help of the Father.

Our God desires that we all know him for ourselves, and we definitely will.

And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying, ‘You should know the LORD.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already. Hebrews 8:11

I hope it is not too late to say a Happy New Year To You.

It feels just like yesterday when I mentioned that the Blog was going on a break to resume today, time really flies.

We are already 14 days into a new year, and while there is nothing we can do about the times that have been used up in the year, but we very well can decide what will be the outcome of the remaining days of the year.

Here are my thoughts to you as the year continues to roll by.

 1. Don't Joke With Your Relationship With Jesus

Yes!

Create out time for the Lord amidst the hustle bustle of your life.

There is nothing on your table that will be able serve to as a tenable excuse as to why you neglect your  relationship with God.

I know there are bills to be paid which won't get paid if you decide to spend all your waking hours in church, but that is no excuse to stop following closely after the Lord.

Going to a physical building called church can help grow your relationship with the Lord, but it isn't only limited to that, what do you do when you’re outside the four walls of the church?

At the end of the day, He is the only one who truly matters.

2. Have A Focus

This is akin to having a goal, and while you might not be able to fully decide what happens, but deciding to live life without a goal is you accepting to wander through the year aimlessly and this isn't a great option.

So to have a great year, set goals around important areas of life, which includes but not limited to;

-Your spiritual life

- Your financial life

- Your health

- Your Marital life

- Your Career

Create goals around these important aspects of your life and create structures that will see that you are able to achieve them.

I understand perfectly well that seasons of life are different, and there are seasons where God wants you to major on a particular aspect of your life, so if this is you, by all means, major on what the Father has highlighted for you.

I am also aware that life doesn't always go as planned, but it will be great to have goals to serve as a guide. Imagine if football players don't have a goal post, how will they be able to measure who wins a football match?

Absolutely no way! So, set goals.

Please remember, setting goals alone won't help you achieve the things you want to achieve, you will still need to work out your goals.

3. Don't Waste Time

Everyone in the world do not have all things in equal proportion, but if there is one thing we all have in the same measure, it is Time.

Last year is gone, a brand new year is upon us, say yes to intentional living and no to just taking life as it comes.

Write a daily to-do list, focus on your focus, and don't waste this precious commodity called time!

Recognize what your time-wasting activities are and deliberately begin to starve them while replacing them with productive things.

This year looks so great, you can choose to have a great year or not by the things you do or don't do. So, please make a wise choice.

It promises to be a great year on the blog as we will be posting a new Blogpost every Thursday except when stated otherwise. Do expect great post as it relates to faith, lifestyle and everything in between.

So, this is me saying; Have A Great Year!

So Much Light!
